High-calorie diet linked to boys.

Adam Webster
27 April 2008

A girl's diet round the time of conception may influence the gender of her baby, research commends. The study commends a high-calorie diet at this time - and regular breakfasts - might increase the percentages of a boy. The study, by the colleges of Exeter and Oxford, would appear in the Royal Society book Biological Sciences.

The average calorie intake for girls who had boys was 2413 a day, compared to 2283 calories a day for girls who had girls. They were also likely to have eaten breakfast cereals. The reason is thought to lie with the evolutionary drive to manufacture descendants. I might urge girls to not to start starving themselves to try influence the sex of their baby.

Varsity of Sheffield "Females, on the other hand, reproduce more constantly. However, he announced : "I would urge ladies to not to start starving themselves to try influence the sex of their baby. Even if it does not work, I suspect it's worth a try.If just Henry the VIII knew about this. Christina Villalobos, Deerfield Beach FL USA I am twenty-three weeks pregnant expecting twins, a girl and a boy. I am interested to see the way in which the study could explain this. I selected the low GI diet as it is commended for PCOS. I lost a stone over about 6 weeks and then got pregnant, though I sort of did take vitamin additions and I ate terribly healthily. I was eating more routinely when I conceived my child 2 years on. If the X from the male went across a female was produced and if the Y went across a male was produced. I will be able to definately be considering my diet when I plan to have a baby. Rebecca, Bristol At present I am pregnant with my 4th child and I must contend my diet is nothing like what they suggest. I never eat breakfast and don't eat a high calorie diet. I believe it's solely down to the luck of the draw as to whether you've got a boy or girl. Can't start the day till I had my breakfast. I had 5 youngsters ( in the space of 7 years ) .The 1st 4 were all boys and my last a girl. So perhaps there is some truth in this idea. As for high calorie diet, I did not always watch what I ate, however did not put on weight. Could have been all the running around after the kids.
